With concerns over rising COVID-19 cases in Indonesia, At least 59 countries have restricted entry of Indonesian to their territory, Tempo reports. Malaysia, one of the countries in this list, imposed the ban earlier this week that also applied to Indonesian citizens holding Long Term Passes. Other countries that limit visitors from Indonesia (and other foreign countries, to be fair) include Hungary, the UAE, Japan, Australia, and South Africa.
Indonesian Foreign Affairs Minister Retno Marsudi considered the ban as the rights of each country's government. Retno said the Indonesian government had also applied a similar policy, restricting entry of foreign nationals in a bid to prevent Covid-19 transmission. In Southeast Asia, the Philippines and Indonesia have been the worst-hit countries, with 237,365 and 194,109 confirmed cases respectively as of Monday morning, as reported by Jakarta Post.
