View this email in your browser Last Thursday, Jakarta officially extended its period of COVID-19 social restrictions for another 14 days following the increased number of new cases and the virus' increased effective reproduction number (the number of people that can catch the disease from a single infected person in a population), which has led experts to demand better containment efforts, the Jakarta Post reports. Having said that, governor Anies Baswedan also argued that the increase of cases was a result of a higher number of COVID-19 tests performed earlier this month. The Immigration Directorate General has announced that it is no longer issuing emergency stay permits to foreigners who have been affected by the pandemic. KITAS holders who have been granted an emergency stay permit may now extend their KITAS or apply for KITAP, according to the updated regulations that were announced in the directorate's twitter and instagram account. As Bali plans to reopen soon, some establishment has announced its launch; Uluwatu's revamped Karma Beach has reopened last week, while Anvaya resort will follow suit and reopen at the end of this month.
