Dear readers,
Here we are well into the tenth month of 2020. How did yours go so far? We hope we have helped you to catch up on the latest news around the block, events, and articles that can be of use along the way. We try to keep things light but sometimes, some news are hard to miss.
For example, in case you did miss it, this week started with an uproar as on Monday, Indonesia's parliament passed the highly controversial omnibus bill on "job creation" into law, three days earlier than initially planned.
This bill is a key policy of President Jokowi's second term aimed to cut red tape and boost investment in Indonesia. However, since its conception, it has received great opposition from labor unions and environmentalists that argued it would eliminate environmental reviews for many future projects as well as harm workers by cutting back many of their rights.
Keep your eyes peeled as 32 organizations are planning to launch a nationwide strike to fight the bill, although the police have yet to grant permission for demonstrations due to coronavirus restrictions.
On Tuesday, Indonesia recorded 4,056 new Covid-19 cases, bringing the total number of infections to 311,176. Which means it is all the more reasons to stay at home still. But maybe you miss being served hotel quality grubs: well you're in luck as restaurants from IHG hotels in Bali, Bandung, and Greater Jakarta are now delivering to your doors.
And for future references, we have some Bali staycation deals you can bookmark today. These agritourism destinations will also make a great destination both for body and soul detoxing after the pandemic. If you're in need of a new muse, we recently got hooked into this exotic East Java destination that is packed with both natural and cultural attractions.
Last but not least, we'd like to wish all teachers Happy World Teachers' Day. We know that your job is extra special (and extra hard) this year, and the world won't be the same without you!
As always, don't forget to stay check out social media channels for the latest updates, promotions, and day to day inspirations. Stay well, stay healthy, and have a great rest of the week!
Cheers,
