How are you doing today? I hope you managed to make good use of the four day long weekend. What we know is that around 89,000 vehicles returned to Jakarta via the Cipali toll road on Sunday. The long holiday also saw at 34% increase of flights at Soekarno Hatta Airport, the highest it has been since the pandemic broke, as reported by CNBC Indonesia.
You've probably heard the warnings and the viral videos of street robbers or 'begal' that has been haunting Jakarta's bikers, even in broad daylight, especially in Jl. Sudirman, Jl. MH Thamrin and the National Monument in Central Jakarta. To fight this, The Jakarta Police have formed a task force to hunt down begal (street robbers) targeting bicycle riders on several major streets in Jakarta, The Jakarta post reports.
Spokesperson Comr. Yusri Yunus said the police had accounted for at least seven bicycle robbery cases across the city throughout the last week of October. Of the seven cases, the police have made three arrests in one begal incident in Central Jakarta. On top of that, patrols will also be dispatched in areas with a high number of cases.
