Hello, Due to the rising cases of COVID-19 in Bali, Governor Wayan Koster has decided to postpone the opening of Bali to international tourists until early 2021, after previously slated to open in September. Although, as tourism is still the backbone of the Balinese economy, local tourists have been allowed back onto the island since July 31. Tourists might have to wait to get into Bali, but you don't have to wait to try these new restaurants and trendy coffee shops in Jakarta and Bandung. Especially now that more train schedule to Bandung has been added. While you're in Bandung, you probably might want to check out the city's latest craze: Halal Soju! I don't think I've heard a more oxymoronic term! But this is what a company in Bandung is coming up with to ride the current mega K-Pop wave. This genius move will give millions of Indonesian teens who are obsessed with everything Korean, the chance to have a bit of a sip of the popular drink without having to break any religious taboo. Curious of what it tastes like? Try it out after you visit one of these Korean restaurants in Bandung. For those of you who miss sitting in the movies, last week, the Indonesian National Board for Disaster Management together with Indonesia COVID-19 Task Force also announced the reopening of cinemas in Jakarta during the New Normal period. Since Last July, The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy along with indonesia's leading cinemas has simulated the opening and application of health protocols to support the re-opening. Though there is no set date yet, we can give you some ideas on what to watch. Last but not least, don't forget to check the weather. As the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) called on the public to prepare for extreme weather and possible natural disasters as many parts of the country shift to the rainy season, the Jakarta Post reports. Have a great rest of the week! Cheers, Jessica Januarty Chief Operating Officer Jessica@whatsnewindonesia.com |
